“Is it in your Levis?” As my dad would say…
With the significant investment and research into breast and ovarian cancer, gene testing is now possible. This was a big deal for me (and my oncology team) and we did it virtually day one, at the cancer center. Why, you may ask, you already have cancer?? Well, yes, but for mom and Izzy’s sake, I wanted answers. Simply put, I will never stop advocating (and nagging) that they are watched very closely, but there is a significant sigh of “not one more thing” relief, that genetics weren’t (based upon today's testing and its reliability) a factor.
Although my personal knowledge is building, I am a hundred lifetimes from being an oncologist, so I am sharing a cool link with great facts for you to read if you'd like to know more… https://www.cancer.gov/.../cause.../genetics/brca-fact-sheet
I am blessed with two incredible daughters... Miah who joined me with her daddy at the age of 6 and Izzy who I gave birth too and is 4. Below you can see why I jumped for joy knowing there was a reduced risk for Iz!
